The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman's Club
The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club is a non-profit, civic organization that strives to improve the quality of the community through the efforts of a vibrant and dynamic group of women. We are committed to promoting volunteerism for local, regional and state charities and outreach programs. We are striving to create a social network among our members, as well as giving back to the community.
How did the Woman’s Club Begin?
Founded in 1890, the General Federation of Woman's Clubs (GFWC) is one of the world's oldest non-partisan, non-denominational woman's volunteer service organizations. It has a membership of 8500 clubs with 350,000 members in the US.
The New Jersey State Federation of Woman's Clubs was born on 11/16/1894-when approximately 150 women representing 36 clubs met in Orange, NJ.
There are 46 Junior clubs, 203 Women’s & 10 Juniorettes currently in NJ. Junior Membership is a statewide organization providing education, training and interaction opportunities for volunteers who are committed to individual growth and community involvement, enriching the quality of life throughout New Jersey and the world.

When does the Club meet?
The club meets on a monthly basis. The meetings are usually held on the 4th Wednesday of each month. These meetings are held at The Bishop House on East Saddle River Road in Saddle River. Members arrive between 7:30 & 8:00 PM and meetings usually start at 8:00. During the meetings we discuss/plan our involvement in fundraising events and charitable outreach programs. Generally these events are planned & executed by a Chairperson (who volunteers to head up the project) & members that volunteer to work with the Chairperson as a team to make the event happen. The Club does not formally meet during the summer. “Groups” may have individual meetings to continue planning an upcoming event and/or social events that take place throughout the year.
How much time is involved?
Other than the quarterly meetings & socials, we encourage everyone to get involved in one project - whether it be a fundraiser (Fashion Show, Movie Day, Plant Sale etc) , charitable outreach program (Shelter Our Sisters, Foster & Adoptive Services), community affairs (Holiday Tree Lighting, Food Drive, Book Drive) OR regional programs (Valley Hospital, Children’s Specialized Hospital, etc.). When we work as a team, things get done rather quickly. Your attendance is NOT mandatory at every social or meeting. We do look for committed members that want to make a difference & help when they can.
What are the dues?
Dues are $60.00 annually and are payable on April 30th of each calendar year. Our fiscal year starts in April. Dues are prorated based on when a member joins during the year.
