The Holiday Extravaganza ~ A Cultural Renaissance in
The weekend before Thanksgiving a cultural renaissance took place at the Bishop House in
On Friday the cool night air outside the heated Barn and tent was filled with the lyrical voices of the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players Wandrn'g Minstrels performing a musical review. A dessert reception with the cast followed. Saturday evening found the Barn alive once again, while Steve Cohen, Ten Dizzy Fingers, played background music on a Steinway concert grand piano during a wine tasting hosted by Chuck Russo’s Wine and Spirit World of Ho-Ho-Kus. During the festive soiree, guests nibbled on delectable cheeses served by Trader Joes of Paramus & appetizers compliments of Aldo’s in
On Sunday afternoon, Bookends attended to Mary Higgins Clark as she graced the Bishop House with her presence and signed many books for her adoring fans.
Saturday and Sunday the house was alive with early holiday shoppers meandering through the quaint rooms purchasing gifts from the likes of Hartgers Jewelers & Eurica of
Two lucky event attendees were winners of a “Jaguar For the Weekend” while a third won a Steinway Essex Player Piano in her home for 6 months.
Steinway & Sons provided music inside as well, with a beautiful baby grand playing in the background while visitors browsed and shopped, some stopped by to have silhouettes created by a silhouette artist while others made arrangements to have pen and ink portraits done of their homes. While guests shopped and browsed inside the Bishop House, outside on the grounds
All this happened because the Saddle River Valley Junior Woman's Club firmly believes in supporting the local merchants within a healthy well-rounded community. The event gave many a chance to mingle with artists, writers, musicians, and singers. The weekend also gave residents a chance to connect and reconnect with many local merchants.

May 25, 2010 SRVJWC Installation Dinner
The 2010 Installation Dinner at the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn was a special night for all of us! It was an opportunity for current club members to reflect on why we are a members, to realize the importance of what we do, and to recognize how we make a difference in the lives of others. Our new members will be adding a new, rewarding dimension to their lives by getting involved in helping those who are less fortunate. It is evident that our newly inducted members are a powerful group of women who are filled with enthusiasm and are ready to get involved. Congratulations to all of our new members and welcome!
A very special “Thank You” to all of the following members:
On behalf of all Board members, I would again like to welcome each of you to our club and we all are looking forward to building many, life-long memories with you. And as Vince Lombardi used to say, “The achievements of an organization are the result of the combined effort of each individual.” May 2010 Plant Sale
Coming together, sharing together, working together & succeeding together.

Our Annual Plant Sale chaired by Virginia Halprin and co-chaired by Denise Mercier was a blooming success! While delivering the plants, residents had big smiles and commented on how beautiful and healthy the plants were. If you didn’t order this year, be sure to next year! Thank you to those who devoted time to this important event. We would especially like to thank Carey Golick for the use of her driveway & garage to sort the plants. We appreciate the help of the members that helped sort and/or deliver: Alexandra Vargas, Debbie Musolino, Joanne Florio, Denise O’Connor, Nicole Reimbauer and new member, Judi Mottle. Proceeds will be donated to local emergency service organizations.

March 2010 Wine & Cheese Soiree
Thank you to all who attended the Saddle River Valley Wine & Cheese soiree and brought wine, dessert or appetizers to my home last Thursday evening. I had a great time & hope you all did as well!
A recap of the evening (Thursday, April 8th):
The evening began with Debbie greeting everyone and giving an overview of where she believes the group is headed and how we can 'give back', build friendships, strengthen the community and set examples for our children.
We then introduced Joanne Florio to say a few words and heard different organizations speak about the donations being given out and what charitable contributions mean to their respective groups. The girl scouts were represented by Jodi Boland, Linda Miko from the USR library, Jeanine Matthews from the USR Afterschool program and a very moving presentation by the IHA highschool girls from Midnight Run and their efforts to assist the homeless in NYC with our donations.
Denise Mercier, 2010 Club President, thanked Joanne for her 4-year term as the Club's president and spoke about the variety of networking & social opportunities available to women joining the club, with or without young children.
We hope you enjoyed the evening and look forward to seeing you @ the next event - either the NM Fashion Show (please let us know if you would like to buy a ticket - we are almost sold out!) or the Installation Dinner on May 25th. We would love to welcome our new members that evening.
*The next step to joining our club is to attend the Installation Dinner where we will induct you into the Club. Club dues for the upcoming year is $50 to join. This pays for administrative efforts, PR, web content & supplies throughout the year. If you can not attend the dinner, but would like to join...please contact me.
Thanks & look forward to seeing you soon.
